Duration: 2 days

Ideal for: history buffs, culture enthusiasts, and mindful travelers

Day 1

Begin your day with a visit to the Carthage National Museum, housed in the Acropolium of Carthage. Take time to absorb the historical context of the city with exhibits that display relics from the Punic and Roman eras. The museum provides a comprehensive overview of Carthage’s rich past, showcasing everything from sculptures to pottery and ancient inscriptions.

After the museum, take a peaceful walk to the Punic Ports. This was a vital part of Carthage’s maritime dominance. As you explore the well-preserved remains of the ancient docks, imagine the bustling port activity of the Phoenician traders.

Head to the Tophet, an ancient sacred burial site where Carthaginian children were once sacrificed in religious rituals. Though somber, this site offers a deeper connection to the spirituality and rituals of ancient Carthage. Take time to meditate or reflect in silence, contemplating the complexity of human history.

Visit also the Sanctuary of Tanit, a sacred site dedicated to the goddess Tanit. This area invites reflection on the cultural and religious practices of the Carthaginian civilization

Make your way to the Antonine Baths, one of the largest Roman bath complexes in Africa. Here, take in the scale of the ruins, the grandeur of the once-thriving Roman presence in Carthage, and the panoramic view over the Mediterranean Sea.

Next, wander through the nearby Roman Villas and gardens, which once belonged to wealthy Carthaginian families. The beautifully preserved mosaics and stunning views over the coastline provide the perfect backdrop for a quiet stroll and reflection on ancient Carthaginian life.

You can stay overnight and enjoy a beautiful sunset on the Mediterranean.

Day 2

Visit Ennejma Ezzahra Palace, the former palace of the Baron d'Erlanger. Set in lush gardens, this historic villa blends Arabic and Andalusian architecture. Walk through its fragrant gardens and perhaps engage in some quiet time in the shade, embracing the peaceful surroundings and reflecting on the cultural fusion of the region.

Go back to Sidi Bou Said and take your time for a relaxing stroll and some meditation on its beautiful beach.
